Meet Dr. Manzuri
Dr. Shai Manzuri is a board-certified pediatrician and pediatric critical care physician with more than 15 years of experience in advanced critical care medicine, with a specialized focus on complex and chronic conditions, including neuromuscular diseases. He currently serves as President and Co-Founder of the Neurology Rare Disease Center and the Neurology and Neuromuscular Care Center, where he plays a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals with rare neuromuscular disorders across the lifespan.
Dr. Manzuri completed his medical training at Universidad Maimonides in Buenos Aires, Argentina, followed by pediatric residency training in New York and a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He has held multiple academic appointments at UT Southwestern and has served as an attending physician in leading institutions, including Children’s Medical Center Dallas, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and Medical City Dallas, where he specialized in pediatric cardiac and critical care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Manzuri has been deeply involved in the care of medically complex patients, including those requiring long-term ventilation and intensive care management. He has contributed to the development of clinical guidelines for respiratory care in patients with spinal muscular atrophy and has been a leader in multidisciplinary critical care education, mentoring trainees and advanced practice providers in high-acuity settings.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Manzuri is actively engaged in clinical research, serving as a sub-investigator in numerous national and international trials focused on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, myasthenia gravis, and other neuromuscular conditions. His research efforts aim to expand access to innovative therapies and improve long-term outcomes for patients with rare diseases.
Dr. Manzuri is fluent in English and Spanish and brings a multicultural, patient-centered approach to care. Outside of medicine, he is an accomplished athlete and former member of the Argentine National Racquetball Team, representing his country in international competitions for over two decades.
