Meet Kayla Clem

Kayla Clem has been a physical therapist for 10 years. Kayla has been on the team since the opening of the clinic in 2023, working both as a Physical Therapist and Clinic Team Lead at the Neurology and Neuromuscular Care Center and as a Physical Therapist / Clinical Evaluator at the Neurology Rare Disease Center.

She began her career at Scottish Rite for Children, which is where she met Dr. Castro! She worked with patients who had neurologic diagnoses and were planning to undergo or recovering from orthopedic surgeries such as spinal fusions, growing rods, halo gravity traction, hip/knee/ankle surgeries, or Ilizarov frames. In addition, Kayla helped develop an intensive post-operative rehabilitation program for these patients.

In 2018, Kayla earned her Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification to better help patients find mobility equipment that supports their independence and daily life. Kayla feels that helping patients obtain the right wheelchair and mobility equipment is one of the most rewarding parts of her job.

In 2024, Kayla became a Board-Certified Pediatric Clinic Specialist after completing advanced training and clinical hours to specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of infants, children, and adolescents. However, she also works with adults now.

What Kayla loves most about this clinic is the opportunity to build relationships with patients and their families. She enjoys taking the time to truly get to know each patient and work together to address any concerns or challenges they may have. She also values the research side of our clinic because it allows them to help not only the families they see today, but potentially many others with the same diagnosis in the future.

Outside of work, Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband and son. As a family, they love being outdoors — whether that means going for walks or runs, swimming at the lake, going to concerts, hiking, or traveling together.
